Marshall McLuhan Response

I choose quote number 5, “I am in the position of Louis Pasteur telling the doctors that their greatest enemy was quite invisible and quite unrecognized by them.” I chose this quote because I thought it was an interesting comparison between himself and Louis Pasteur.

I think what this quote means is that the enemy is right in front of us and we choose not to see it. Marshall and Louis were both trying to get a message across to an audience. This quote makes you think twice about the current situation. When you first read this quote and many of u have quotes you have no clue what he is trying to say. As you read it over and over and think about what he is trying to say, you’ll find that hes truly quite brilliant. Yes I do agree with him. When he was alive he didn’t know about the internet but yet he knows its the enemy. He is trying to say that the enemy is no one, therefore we do not see it as a enemy.

The media is no one, the media is commercial. So how could it be the enemy. I think we run from the fact that the media is harmful because there’s no one to blame for it. I don’t think it matters if the media is harmful. Its to big and is growing to fast for anyone to sit back and realize the pollution it is to the world. This quote relates to media studies because the underlying message is relativity the same. Louis Pasteur was talking about the media but the concept is the same and that is to get the message across
