A fish does not realize its medium until that water changes through the adding of ink or poisons- Marshall McLuhan

by Bennett R.

This is a fairly simple message, You can’t realize what media or environment you are or were in until it changes and you can look back and observe the change. That is of course why historians and anyone else for that matter who attempts to explain how and where we are instead explains how we got here and what was in the way of that. If you think about the message its rather abrupt. You are a fish, understand how the water changes or you’ll be left belly up when the ink comes.
